FAQs

HPL stands for ‘High Pressure Laminate’ made by pressing of resin impregnated cellulose papers at high temperature and pressure. It generally comprises of decor paper (Top layer of the laminate) and multiple kraft paper layers (Layers of the laminate behind the decor).

Plastic laminate manufacturing process is almost similar to the HPL, the only difference is in case of plastic laminates, the paper for the top layer of the sheet is translucent layer and just beneath the top is the decorative layer. However in case of HPL there is no such translucent layer at the top.
Though laminate has unlimited life but deepening upon the application, it can last upto 10 to 15 years.
a) By using the laminate as per the requirements of application.
b) By following the installation instructions and precautions to be taken while application.
c) By maintaining the cleanliness throughout the life cycle of laminate.
Yes, the HPL is anti-termite
a) In terms of thickness, HPL can commonly range from 0.5 to 25mm.
b) In terms of Sizes, HPL can be commonly available in width range from 1220 to 1860mm and length range from 2440 to 4320mm
Common applications of HPL are
a) Indoor Vertical Application (e.g. Furniture, Interior Walls, Ceiling, Cuboids, etc.)
b) Indoor Horizontal Application (e.g., Table Tops, Kitchen Tops, Flooring, etc.)
c) Exterior Applications (e.g., Wall claddings, façade etc.)
a) HPL is more durable due to higher strength and density.
b) HPL has better functional capabilities due to its inert nature and no effect of daily common use items. It is easier to maintain.
c) Available in variety of colours, textures, visual appearance and sizes.
HPL with woodgrain surface is an replica of real surfaces such as wood, etc. It provides a similar look as compared to real surfaces.
Design or decor paper is the top most layer of the HPL and is the face of the HPL. It is available in large number of colours and appearances.
Industrial application HPL can be made without a design paper generally known as ‘Backer’.
Laminate also has industrial applications for making cubicles, locker rooms, drill entry & backup layer for PCB products, electrical insulation grade.
Generally HPL are not harmful for children or food industry, still there are HPL which are specially made with properties like Anti-Bacterial, Anti-Viral, etc. which are more safer for children and for use in food industry than normal HPL.
HPL sheets are packed in wooden crates and pallets along with other protection materials like thermocol, bubble wrap sheets and layer of paper on top and bottom to prevent damage to the sheets.
HPL releases aldehyde contents in the atmosphere due to free formaldehyde contents present in it. But the amount of release of aldehyde content is very low to affect the humans or environment.
